Academic Bowl
Oregon School for the Deaf is proud to be represented by a group of students who work together as a team to compete at the annual Academic Bowl, hosted by Gallaudet University. The competition challenges student knowlegde in a variety of areas: Math, Science, History, Deaf Studies, English, and Current Events. Students need to be able to read quickly, respond quickly, take the initiative to answer questions, and work together in solving problems. Each year, there are tryouts to determine new members to replace those who have graduated. Regular practices are scheduled on a weekly basis to prepare for this exciting competition.
For this year (2011-2012), following the recommendation of the High School faculty and after three tryout sessions, four students are selected to serve as the primary Academic Bowl players:
Kaelyn Cartwright
Daniela Chavez-Camarena
M. Taylor Clark
Hunter Morelli
These players will represent Oregon School of the Deaf at the Academic Bowl competition at Gallaudet University in March 2012.
Should any one of these players have to withdraw from the March 2012 competition, a player will be selected from the below list to be a substitute:
Rigo Martinez
Joshua Zamora
CONGRATULATIONS!
