ASL Basic & Family Conversations (offered by Salem Alliance)

The Family Sign Language Learning Community is designed for families with deaf, hard of hearing, or speech-impaired children and youth. The class is geared towards establishing fluent communication whether a family uses ASL without speech or ASL signs with spoken language. School staff members who work with deaf, hard of hearing, or speech-impaired students may register if space is available. Two ability levels are currently offered on the same night during fall term: Basic and Family Conversations. Those interested in the ASL Basic or Family Conversations classes who have no previous experience with ASL are encouraged to begin our program during the Fall 2016 term. There is a companion children's program available that teaches ASL at no extra cost for students' children from birth through 5th grade.

The Family Sign Language Learning Community meets Thursdays 6:30 - 8:00 pm. Fall  2016 term classes start Thursday,  September 15 and end Thursday, December 8. Each class runs 12 weeks and the registration cost is $25 per person for both levels. Students taking both the ASL Basic and Family Conversations will need to purchase the class curriculum/resource book for a separate fee; families may share one book.
