ASL for Families
The American Sign Language for Families Learning Community is designed for families with deaf, hard of hearing, or speech-impaired children and youth. The class is geared towards establishing fluent communication whether a family uses ASL without speech or ASL signs with spoken language. School staff members who work with Deaf, hard of hearing, or speech-impaired students may register if space is available. Two ability levels are currently offered on the same night during Fall term: Level 101 and 201. There is a companion children's program available that teaches ASL at no extra cost for students' children from birth through 5th grade.
The ASL for Families Learning Community meets Thursdays 6:30 - 8:00 pm. Fall 2015 term classes start Thursday, September 17 and end Thursday, December 10. Each class runs 12 weeks and the cost is $25 per person. Level 101 students purchase a book for $25 and families may share one book.
